Tony Jenkinson, long time friend of everyone at CYO, died on Saturday morning.
Although well into his 70’s (no one was ever quite sure by how much!) Tony had the energy and stamina of many half his age. He would often pop into the office to catch up with news, to encourage us and to pray with us – also to drink coffee.
But Tony was actively involved in much of the life of CYO as a recently appointed Trustee and particularly as a volunteer with our sports projects where he was loved and respected by dozens of young people, many of whom had respect for very few others. During early August he was working with us in Tiptree for a week of sports and outreach projects.
Tony never stopped. He was a scout for both Colchester and Liverpool football clubs; until recently coached football in schools; was an active member of Christians in Sport; led youthwork in his church, and still found time to encourage many, commit time to his family and to love and care for Sheila, his wife.
So many people are going to miss him so very much.
