Today we interviewed for a new Youth and Schools Worker. The awesome thing about these (rare) occasions is that you get to meet such brilliant people. The awful thing is having to choose just one of them. I love the interviewing, the getting to know people, being able to share our vision and answer their questions. But then comes the most difficult bit – having to decide with the other interviewers who will get the job, or more specifically, who to turn away. After that comes the almost impossible bit – having to phone the people who didn’t get the job and attempt to sound positive about them not getting a job into which they’ve invested weeks of aspiration and hope. Sometimes I wish God would just send us the one person that’s right. Thank goodness I also get to phone the person who we did select.
