I’d brought a load of activities from Sanctum supplemented by a few borrowed from fellow Prayer Spaces in Schools team member Rach Warwick who runs Orison. We managed a speedy set up spreading the prayer activities around the room and also adding some information about other activities too complex to bring in for the day.
About 30 people took part and to set the scene each of the three of us shared a story and a bit of background about prayer spaces we’d run. This included a moving video of the prayer space at Benson Primary School run by Catherine. We then encouraged everyone to spend about 20 minutes immersing themselves in the prayer activities. As there weren’t enough things for everyone to do at once we were able to chat to quite a few people during this time, learning more about their situations and explaining more about running a prayer space. We finished with a Q&A session which covered lots of ground and provided opportunities to share more amazing stories of the impact prayer spaces are having on the lives of young people.
All too soon it was time to pack up and return home. Our thanks to Gill from SU for inviting us in.
All the resources we set up are available for download at the Prayer Spaces in Schools web site, along with other practical info and education guides.
